Nel completes Connecticut PEM factory expansion
Nel has extended and automated the manufacturing of its PEM hydrogen electrolysers at its Wallingford facility in Connecticut, US.Opened by Democratic Senator, Richard Blumenthal, the site’s annual capacity has been increased from 50 to 500MW, which the Norwegian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has said will reduce the cost of its electrolysers by 30%.DHL Supply Chain and the drinks firm behind Smirnoff, Captain Morgan and more in North America, have announced plans to use two Nikola hydrogen trucks in their US fleet.The global logistics firm will use the Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell trucks to deliver Diago North America goods from Diago’s Plainfield campus in Illinois, using a Nikola HYLA modular refueller at the site.Two US firms are planning on using natural gas produced from oil extraction to produce blue hydrogen.
