As discussions veer towards embracing cleaner energy sources, the African continent is poised to become the world\u2019s leading green hydrogen producer. Africa has the potential to generate a trillion dollars\u2019 worth of green hydrogen by 2035. As hydrogen&#8217;s rising role in the global energy transition meets Africa\u2019s growing supply capacity, maritime highways are being formed to transport this climate-smart energy carrier from Africa to Europe and Asia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/opinion\/comment\/2023\/12\/13\/africas-maritime-hydrogen-highways-could-enrich-the-continent-and-save-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/opinion\/comment\/2023\/12\/13\/africas-maritime-hydrogen-highways-could-enrich-the-continent-and-save-the-world\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\">Green hydrogen in Africa: A continent of possibilities?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is huge interest in the development of green hydrogen projects in Africa, building on the continent\u2019s vast potential for renewable energy. But are these the right projects to achieve success, both for investors and for African populations? A wide range of very large-scale projects has been announced, such as the 15 GW Aman project in Mauritania, the 3 GW Tsau Khaeb project in Namibia and the 4 GW SCZONE project in Egypt.
